Navajo Nation, Zuni Tribe, & New Mexico Natural Resources Trustee Finalize Natural Resources Restoration Plan for injuries at Ft. Wingate

Co-Trustees will restore natural resources using $1,137,150 awarded in settlement with United States Army

The Zuni Tribe, Navajo Nation, the New Mexico Office of Natural Resources Trustee, the United States Department of the Army, and the United States Forest Service- Co-Trustees for natural resources located at the Fort Wingate Depot Activity, announced the completion of the Final Resource Restoration Plan and Environmental Assessment for the Fort Wingate Depot Activity Site (FRRPEA). The restoration plan identifies two natural resource restoration projects utilizing the $1,137,150 settlement.

The FRRPEA selected the following projects:  

  • Navajo Nation, Forest Restoration and Fuelwood Production – Cibola National Forest – $568,575
  • Zuni Tribe, Bluehead Sucker Habitat Conservation – $568,575
